There was some healthy competition on the weekend with the Trigg Point Boardriders having their last battle in the water for 2010?! It was a bit fun watching these guys duck and weave between the Sunday masses trying to outscore each other. Kerry Whitford came up victorious and took home the metal for the trophy cabinet.

A week of waves! That hasn't happened for a while now. Combine that with hot days and warm water and there were smiles all round.

There was a bit going on last week in sleepy ol' West Oz. Some fun waves and competition abound. Australia Day saw nearly 2,000 people don a thong for the Havaiana Thong Challenge down at Cottesloe Beach. Top honours this year went to team Bondi…only beating WA by 121 thongs though!
Our South West caught 2 macking swells within 4 days. A 4m SW swell on Thursday then a 3m NW cyclone swell on Sunday. That doesn't happen very often. We were also lucky enough in Perth to score some of the cyclone swell. There were waves all along the coast. I heard talk of guys having 4 and 5 surfs yesterday. Lots of smiling faces down at the beach!

A fair few like this rolling through today // Scarborough Beach @ 7:50am
I can just hit the "repeat" button for today. Shoulder to head high waves again. Light offshore winds. Sunny. What a crackin' start to winter! The banks were probably a little bit straighter again today but this could all change with the tide.

The South West has been smokin' this week from what I've heard. The reports today are saying clean 4-6 foot waves. It's very tempting to get on the road but it'll just have to wait till next week.

Perks of the job. Surf when you want?! It hasn't happened too much lately but today I got to have a paddle. Gotta get in some fitness training before heading south with the boys in a few weeks.

The swell turned up as expected today. A few 3 foot waves rolling in off The Point. I did the early run down to Scabs. A little disappointed. The banks are still pretty straight down there and struggling with this swell.

I had never considered hiring a photographer to go with me on a surf trip or even for a day at the beach.  In my mind this is only something the pro's would do. I kept asking my wife, Zoe, to come down and take a few photos of me on some waves. I
